“I see film and theatre as a Swiss army knife. It can be the cork screw to pop the champagne or the knife to cut open a seal. “

Originally from Clonmel Tipperary Ireland, I studied Communication Studies in Dublin City University before completing the MFA in Theatre Directing at The Lir Academy Dublin. I went on to be assistant and associate director at some of Ireland’s leading theatres while also creating my own work.

I am drawn to stories of characters who find a way to prevail, to persevere and to survive. I thrive in dissecting texts, using the muscularity of language, and finding authenticity in thought. My theatre work often uses music at the pulse of my productions, especially working in physical, devised, and musical theatre.

My film work takes inspiration from my roots in theatre. I love creating visceral, visually impactful films with a strong focus on the inner life of characters.

I am artistic director of Stagecraft, one of Ireland’s largest and leading youth theatres. I believe in unlocking the potential of every young person and creating authentic productions with the next generation. I often work in The Lir Academy Dublin as both a teacher and director.

I have worked with The Abbey Theatre Dublin, The Gate Theatre Dublin, The Everyman Theatre Cork, Landmark Productions, Clonmel Junction Arts Festival and The Birmingham Rep Theatre.
